Live Theatre has a sparkling line-up for Christmas 2022 with the family show Wintry Tales, contemporary romantic comedy Wishes On The Wind, and festive Live Tales creative writing workshops at Fenwick Newcastle.
Wintry Tales
Live Theatre’s fantastic yuletide offering commences on Sunday 4 December with Wintry Tales a dazzling new show for kids. Follow two curious explorers, played by Alice Faith and Bridget Marumo, as they set out on a mission to discover their next tale. Lonely polar bears, snowy supermarkets, revolutionary elves, and snowball firing robots all come together in this magical hour of storytelling. Written by leading playwright Rory Mullarkey from ideas submitted by local school children through Live Tales workshops, Wintry Tales is a wildly funny and inventive delight for children and families. Supported by The Gillian Dickinson Trust, Wintry Tales runs from Sunday 4 to Friday 23 December.
Wishes on the Wind
Live Theatre’s alternative Christmas show from Thursday 8 to Sunday 18 December is Wishes on the Wind by Benjamin Storey and starring Caitlyn Barber and Luke Hammond. A Live Theatre and Squiggle Productions co-production this tender new debut festive play with songs is about finding connection, losing it again and desperately trying not to self-sabotage. Set across five New Year’s Eves, can a chance Christmas encounter unwrap the answers that troubled musician Charlie and social media influencer Sam have both been looking for? The production will also feature a short play Secret Santa by Alison Scurfield the writer of Intergalactic – Petals and Constellations, as a festive curtain raiser giving audiences two treats for the price of one!
Live Tales sessions
This Christmas the wonderful Live Tales team is bringing story writing workshops to Fenwick Newcastle. The Christmas-themed Live Tales sessions will introduce lots of festive fun, get children excited about writing and immerse them in a world of colourful characters, wacky lands and amazing adventures. As the ideas are unleashed by the children, a talented illustrator will be on hand to draw them, creating a unique souvenir booklet for the children to take home. Sessions take place in the reading room on the third floor of Fenwick Newcastle every Saturday until 17 December. Go to www.fenwick.co.uk to find out more and book.
