A reply from Matt Vickers a loyal Tory MP

Matt Vickers MP (Stockton South, Deputy Chairman of Conservative Party) replied to my letter regarding his unwavering support for Boris Johnson. In it, he set out in detail the reasons why I was wrong in my assessment of both his and the PM’s shortcomings.

It is nothing less than I would have expected from such an influential doyen of the Conservative Party. I was stunned by the fulsome and articulate disassembling of everything I had said.

I am, of course, kidding. He did nothing of the sort.

This is the response in full…

Many thanks for your correspondence. Matt is grateful for the time taken to contact him. The contents of your email have been noted and will be given due consideration.

Kind Regards,

Niall.

My response?

First of all, I did not anticipate a reply, so was pleasantly surprised to see it in my inbox.

As you can see it didn’t take long to digest.

Why did he not forensically or passionately take apart my analysis, seeing how he was so keen to be at Downing St to show his support?

What can I take from a 3 line email?

Does he know what a piece of work he is and acknowledges I am correct but couldn’t care less?

Does he disagree completely with me but can’t be bothered to give a proper response.

Does he just have contempt for me, and others who may call him out?

Whatever it is, I do not believe it is worthy of an Honourable Gentleman. It is indicative of the condescending mentality of this Conservative Party and shows what they think about their constituents.
