New Year Skills Café for Kenton

New Year Skills Café for Kenton

Kenton’s councillors have teamed up with the social enterprise, ‘Upstart Enterprise’,  to provide a Skills Cafe to support those looking for jobs in the new year.

The Skills Cafe will hold informal classes from 26 January 2023 at the Kenton Centre. Local residents who are unemployed or are seeking a new role will get practical help with job search, CV writing, job applications and interview techniques. The project follows from a successful business start -up scheme which ran from September to December 2023.

Coun Stephen Lambert, Chair of the Kenton Committee, said:

”This is a locally run project which is connected to the Kenton community. The Skills Cafe aims to reach out to those who are jobless, or those looking to upskill, re-enter the workforce later in life or after child- care responsibilities.”

The programme is open to Kenton residents and those living in nearby localities like Fawdon, Gosforth, Cowgate and Blakelaw. The project is part funded by the City Council’s Kenton Ward Committee.
